CROCHET FOLDABLE MARKET BAG

Today I will show you how to make this star shaped Foldable Market Bag. It's an easy pattern but I think it might be confusing for beginner, so I recommend this pattern for advanced beginner or motivated beginner. I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I do ^^

1. Materials Used:

• Weight 1 yarn (super fine)

• 1.5mm & 2mm hook

• Scissors

• Tapestry Needle

• Stitch markers

2. Abbreviations:

• MR: Magic Ring

• ch: chain

• slst : slip stitch

• dc : double crochet

• sc : single crochet

• rep : repeat

• sk : skip

• st(s) : stitch(es)

• blo : back loop only

• yo : yarn over

• ttr : triple treble crochet (yo 4 times)

• qtr : quadruple treble crochet (yo 5 times)

• sp : space

3. Pattern:

a. Star (x2)

    Use 2mm hook

• R1: MR, ch. 3 (count as dc), [ch. 3 - dc] x4, ch. 3, slst 

          - Total 5 dc, 5 ch. 3

• R2: ch. 3 (count as dc), 2dc - ch.2 - 3dc, [3dc - ch. 2 - 3dc] x4, slst 

            - Total 30 dc, 5 ch. 2

• R3: ch. 3 (count as dc), dc, 3dc - ch. 2 - 3dc, dc x2, sk. 2, [dc x2, 3dc - ch. 2 - 3dc, dc x2, sk. 2] x4, slst 

            - Total 50 dc, 5 ch. 2

• R4: ch. 3 (count as dc), dc x3, 3dc - ch. 2 - 3dc, dc x4, sk. 2, [dc x4, 3dc - ch. 2 - 3dc, dc x4, sk. 2] x4, slst 

            - Total 70 dc, 5 ch. 2

• R5: ch. 3 (count as dc), dc x5, 3dc - ch. 2 - 3dc, dc x6, sk. 2, [dc x6, 3dc - ch. 2 - 3dc, dc x6, sk. 2] x4, slst 

            - Total 90 dc, 5 ch. 2

• R6: ch. 3 (count as dc), dc blo x99, slst 

            - Total 100 dc

• R7: ch. 3 (count as dc), dc x99, slst 

            - Total 100 dc

Fasten off, weave in

Make the 2nd star, but this time DO NOT fasten off, proceed to join both stars

b. Join panels:

    Use 2mm hook

        - With right side facing each other, take your stitch markers and use it to make sure both                     stars aligned. 

• R1: [ch.10, sk. 3, sc on both panels] x18, [ch.10, sk. 3, sc on one panel] x5, ch. 5 - ttr on the first sp (or last dc from previous row).

            - Total 18 ch. 10 sts on both panels, 7 ch. 10 sts on one panel (including the ttr sts)

c. Body bag:

    Use 2mm hook

• R2: [ch. 15, sc into the ch. 10 sp from previous row] x24, ch. 7 - qtr into the ttr from previous row.

• R3-13: [ch. 15, sc into the ch. 15 sp from previous row] x24, ch. 7 - qtr into the qtr from previous row.

• R14: [ch. 5, sc] x25

d. Handle bag:

    Use 2mm hook

    - Divide the body bag into 4, mark it with stitch markers.

• R1: ch. 80, slst to 2nd stitch marker, sc into all the sts from previous row until you reach the 3rd stitch marker. ch. 80, slst to the 4th stitch marker, sc into all the sts from previous row until you reach the 1st stitch marker, slst. 
• R2-4: ch.1, sc around, slst to the first stitch.

    - Insert yarn into the inner part of the handle, ch. 1, sc into all the sts.

e. Strap bag:

    Use 1.5mm hook

    - Leave 120cm, make a slip knot, then make cord sts for 24-25 cm.

f. Strap closure bag:

    Use 1.5mm hook

    - ch. 10

Last step, fold you market bag. Attach the strap & closure to the stars.

And you're done! You just crocheted your own Market Bag <3
